Setting up Cowork and connectors

Overview

Claude connectors let Claude work with other tools (for example Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Learn). Some connectors are already enabled for SU and can be turned on per chat: in Claude, go to Settings > Connectors, connect your account, then in a chat press "+" > Connectors to enable it. New connectors must be reviewed and approved by ITS before they are available (ITS checks for an SU contract and a SOC 2 security report). Claude Cowork is now available at SU as part of Claude Enterprise, alongside Chat and Code, and is included in your Syracuse account. Cowork is built to work with files on your computer, so it is best used in the Claude desktop app. To request a connector or get help with Cowork, contact aihelp@syr.edu.

Steps

  1. Turn on an already-enabled connector: Claude > Settings > Connectors > connect your account; then in a chat press "+" > Connectors to enable it.

  2. Want a new connector? It must be reviewed and approved by ITS, who check for an SU contract and a SOC 2 report. Email aihelp@syr.edu to start.

  3. Claude Cowork is now available at SU as part of Claude Enterprise, included in your Syracuse account; it is built to work with files on your computer, so use the Claude desktop app. For help, email aihelp@syr.edu.

Two related topics live here: connectors (linking Claude to other tools) and Claude Cowork. Enabled connectors are turned on per chat; new ones require an ITS security review; Cowork is now available at SU as part of Claude Enterprise and is best used in the Claude desktop app.
